Come on in! The water’s fine!
Thinking about adding a water feature to your outdoor living space this summer? Great! Water features add visual appeal, soothing sound, and a calming peace to any patio or garden area. Consider one of these for your space:
- Garden pond. Decorated with gorgeous flowering or non-flowering aquatic plants and populated by a few koi or goldfish, the garden pond is a popular favorite with homeowners. Traditional ponds that require ongoing maintenance (filters, testing water chemistry, etc.) are taking a backseat to new options with salt water, or rocks and plants in place to cleanse water naturally.
- Pondless waterfalls. These circulate water via waterfall into a bed of gravel, beneath which a pump circulates the collected water and streams it back up to the top of the waterfall. Trending now are slower moving falls that are more serene.
- Sheet waterfalls. One of the most popular water features, a sheet waterfall is installed into a block wall from which the water cascades in a seamless sheet. Adding LED lights to the falls creates a stunning display in the evenings.
- Container fountains. These incorporate one large or several small to large containers for a cascading effect. They are filled with water, surrounded by rock and plants, and contain a hidden pump inside that continuously circulates water. They can be a lovely addition, placed among flowers in a garden bed.
